Telefilm Canada presents the Canada Cool comedy tour, a curated selection of critically acclaimed and award-winning films coming to U.S. theaters in the fall. The film series presents 10 new comedies not yet in American distribution and two true classics of the genre. The films have been selected by MoMA’s former Senior Curator of Film, Laurence Kardish. The program kicks off on September 18th in New York at the Cinema Village and in Los Angeles at the Crest/Westwood.

The Canada Cool lineup includes the following films:

  • Being Canadian – Director: Robert Cohen
  • Animal Project – Director: Ingrid Veninger
  • Asphalt Watches – Directors: Shayne Ehman and Seth Scriver
  • Bang Bang Baby – Director: Jeffrey St. Jules
  • Fathers and Guns (De père en flic) – Director: Émile Gaudreault
  • Henri Henri – Director: Martin Talbot
  • Relative Happiness – Director: Deanne Foley
  • Songs She Wrote About People She Knows – Director: Kris Elgstrand
  • Sunflower Hour – Director: Aaron Houston
  • Two 4 One – Director: Maureen Bradley

Classics Selection:

  • Crime Wave (1985) Director: John Paizs
  • The Decline Of The American Empire (Le Déclin de l’empire américain) (1986) Director: Denys Arcand
