Congratulations to the SAW Video members who showcased their work at RESOLUTION 2016 last evening at the ByTowne Cinema in Ottawa. There was a great turnout and many good networking opportunities at the after-party at Club SAW.

CBC Ottawa presents Cinema Shorts 2015, an hour-long screening of short films from emerging filmmakers in the Ottawa area as part of its annual Absolutely Ottawa Summer series. The featured films this year include:

If you live in the Ottawa area, SAW Video’s Jumpstart grant maybe a good fit for you.  Established in the 1980s, Jumpstart is SAW Video’s longest-standing production incentive program specifically designed for artists who are new to video as a medium.  In addition to monetary and equipment support, Jumpstart offers a mentorship component aimed at supporting emerging artists through all stages of the production cycle. OttawaIndieFilm-SecretWar3Today’s episode of #OttawaIndieFilm features Shannon Lough, Emanuela Campanella, Sarah Turnbull and Fangliang Xu, four students from the School of Journalism and Communication at Carleton University.  They have just completed their first film together, a documentary called “Secret War” about the innovative War Horse project which utilizes horses to help veterans dealing with the traumas of war.  “Secret War” is an Official Selection at this year’s Yorkton Film Festival.
