Have you always wanted to dip your toe into the world of visual storytelling?  Are you a media artist / hobbyist who has always thought about taking your work to the next level?  Do you have a great idea for a short narrative film or a documentary but are intimidated by the process or the technology it would take to complete it?

If you live in the Ottawa area, SAW Video’s Jumpstart grant maybe a good fit for you. ¬†Established in the 1980s, Jumpstart is SAW Video’s longest-standing production incentive program specifically designed for artists who are new to video as a medium. ¬†In addition to monetary and equipment support, Jumpstart offers a mentorship component aimed at supporting emerging artists through all stages of the production cycle.

Here are a couple of examples of Jumpstarters from the class of 2014/2015:

Morgana McKenzie, winner of the Best Director under 25 award (sponsored by Ottawa Indie Fest) at the inaugural Ottawa Independent Video Awards, #OIVA2015.

Cory and Gary Thibert from Wolf Pelt Productions were also nominees at #OIVA2015 and are featured on Episode 1 of the #OttawaIndieFilm web series on Apt613.ca and OttawaIndieFilm.com

Wolf Pelt Productions are the focus on the first episode of the webseries “Ottawa Indie Film”, check it out.http://apt613.ca/fellowship-of-the-blog-ottawa-indie-film-episode-one/
