In Her Place PosterOttawa-born Korean-Canadian Director Albert Shin’s feature film In Her Place is having a special screening on Friday April 10th at 1.30pm at Carleton University River Building Theatre.

In Her Place was nominated for 7 Canadian Screen Awards including Best Picture and Best Director at the 2015 Canadian Screen Awards. It has been presented at numerous international film festivals around the world such as Toronto, Palm Springs and San Sebastian, while winning awards from the Abu Dhabi Film Festival and the Festival du Nouveau Cinema in Montreal.

The film involves an affluent couple who arrives at a desolate farm in the Korean countryside where a pregnant teenager and her mother have agreed to let them adopt the girl’s child. The wife is to stay at the farm until the child is born, and a quiet unease begins to percolate as the three unnamed women fall into a daily routine. Director Shin patiently explores the rhythms and tensions born of the three women’s disparate desires. (Excerpt from Toronto International Film Festival)
