Best known as the drummer for innovative Canadian pop band We Are The City, director Andrew Huculiak has had a long standing passion for cinema. Violent is his first feature film.

The film just swept the best feature, direction, screenwriting and music categories at the 2015 Leo Awards during a gala celebration on Sunday June 14. In a separate celebration on June 6, Joseph Schweers was honoured for Violent’s cinematography and editing, while he also shared the best visual effects trophy with Marc Whitelaw.  The Leo Awards are the awards program for the British Columbia film and television industry. Held each May or June in Vancouver, British Columbia, the Leo Awards were founded by the Motion Picture Arts and Sciences Foundation of British Columbia and in 1999.

The film was also named best Canadian and best BC feature at the Vancouver International Film Festival last year.
